Director's statement
In my first computer animated film Dream, I simply wanted to create a surreal and visually compelling subway scene by combining subway architecture, characters’ movement, lighting, camera works and sound. In order to make a woman's subway ride turn into a flight of imagination, the music-an aria from La Bohème was used as a catalyst in this film. The song carries a woman in an empty subway car, out of tunnels, into the mountains, and finally into outer space. My focus was to create seamless transitioning from the real world to the dream world, carrying the woman's emotions to extremes along with it. Dream marked my first realization of the possibility of a moving collage created with the use of digital tools.
